Tutankhamun’s Family Tree
Genetic researchers have found the family of the famous Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who lived around 1300 BC.
Tutankhamun’s mummy is located in a museum in Cairo, Egypt, along with many other mummies. Researchers obtained DNA samples from Tutankhamun’s mummy and 15 other mummies that were determined to have lived around the same time. As a result of the comparisons, it was revealed that Tutankhamun’s father was another pharaoh named Akhenaten. Researchers also found Tutankhamun’s mother and sister. In addition, they revealed the cause of Tutankhamun’s death from the DNA samples. According to this, the famous pharaoh died as a result of malaria.
