Let’s Protect Water Game and Game Paper Cards

Awareness Raising Games for Kids: Let’s Protect Water Game and game cards

We wash our hands and faces. We brush our teeth. We wash our vegetables, fruits, clothes, and dishes. We water our plants. So, how much water do we use for all these tasks? Can we use less water? What are some ways to use less water? We have prepared a game to get you thinking about these issues.

How to Play the Game Let’s Protect Water Game

The game is played with 2 people.

You need 4 pawns and 30 tokens for the game. Cut out the tokens from the cardboard provided by clicking the download button below. Cut out and prepare the pawns as well.

There are pictures on the boxes on the game board. These pictures show activities that use water. The tokens have numbers on them that show the amount of water used.

Randomly place the tokens on the boxes where it says “amount of water.” Place your pawns on the boxes however you like. Remember, each player must place two pawns. Also, you cannot place two pawns on one box.

The goal of the game is to collect the tokens by moving the pawns from one box to another. So how do players collect the tokens? After the tokens and pawns are placed, decide who will start the game.

The first player can move any of their pawns to a box to their right, left, above, below, or diagonally. They can even do this by skipping as many boxes as they want. In other words, they can go to the nearest box above; they can skip the nearest box and go to the second or third box! However, they cannot go to a box with a pawn on it.

Then they take the token from the box they left. It is then the second player’s turn.

Players cannot move their pawns to a box without a token or skip over these boxes.

Each player can move any of their pawns when it is their turn. The game ends when no pawns can be moved. Who wins the game? To determine this, after the game ends, players add up the numbers on all the pieces in their hands. This total indicates the amount of water the player has used. The player who has used the least water, i.e., the player who has conserved the most water, wins the game!
