Raspberries belong to the rose family. They are thorny bushes that lose their leaves in winter and live for many years. Raspberries grow naturally in many parts of the world where the weather is mild and rainy.
You might know raspberries from ice cream, jam, cookies, or juice. They are also called framboise in some places. But where do raspberries grow? What do their leaves look like? How are their flowers? Let’s go on a little adventure and discover this fruit together!
The raspberry bush can grow up to 2 meters tall. Its thin roots spread out like little strings and can reach 1–1.5 meters deep. The leaves are pointy at the ends and have tiny teeth along the edges. The flowers are white with five petals. The red fruits are hollow in the middle, and each little piece of the fruit has a seed inside. Raspberries start to ripen between June and August.
Raspberries are not only tasty for people but also very important food for animals like squirrels, rabbits, deer, and many more.
