A game I played with my son at home last week turned out to be much more fun and educational than I expected. We named it “Color Hunt.” It not only helped him focus his attention but also greatly improved his ability to recognize colors. In this article, I want to tell you about this simple yet effective game.
🧠 Why We Loved This Game
Children can sometimes struggle to channel their energy. Especially between the ages of 4-6, their attention span can be very short. While playing this game, we noticed that searching for and finding colors both entertained them and encouraged them to focus.
🚶♀️ How We Play
- We review the colorful objects at home. Like a red ball, a blue pencil, a green plate.
- I say, “Come on, find me something red!”
- He then looks around excitedly, finds it, and brings it.
- Then we increase the difficulty level:
- “Can you find something that is red and round?”
- “Find something blue in 10 seconds!”
- “Find a green toy and tell me what it’s used for.”
I give different tasks each time. He both has fun and learns.
👨👩👧 Our Experience
At first, he was just finding colors. Then I made the tasks a little more difficult. Like, “Find something red, but don’t say its name, let me guess.” This way, we exercised both his attention and his memory.
📥 More Fun with Color Cards
To make this game more systematic, I prepared color cards. Each card has a color and a task related to that color. The children pick a card and complete the task. It becomes so much fun
